DETERMINATION OF THE EXTRACTION CONDITIONS OF PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS FROM ARBUTUS UNEDO L. LEAVES

Extraction parameters in classical solvent extraction of bioactive compounds from Arbutus unedo leaves were studied using a single factor experiment approach. Effects ethanol (EtOH) concentration (20-100 %), solvent:solid ratio (10-90 ml/g), time min) and temperature (15-70 °C) on total phenolic content (TPC), flavonoid (TFC) antioxidant activity (TAA) the extracts investigated. The optimal conditions found as 40 % EtOH, 50:1, 60 min, 55 °C. Under these conditions, TPC, TFC TAA obtained 89.58 mg GAE/g dw, 28.62 CAT/g dw 85.25 inh, respectively. It was that especially highly correlated with under all such (r=0.962), (r=0.947), (r=0.793) (r=0.935).
